It is starting to look like Mike Huckabee’s real desire is not to president but rather to become Fred Thompson.

After several appearances on the Comedy Central hit The Colbert Report, Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, a native of HOPE (Yes, the same Hope that gave us all Bill Clinton) managed to find his way to New York for an appearance on SNL.

The former Arkansas governor appeared in a “Weekend Update” segment in which he described his confusion over whether it is mathematically impossible for him to win the nomination over front-runner John McCain. After anchorman Seth Meyers explained the numbers, Huckabee responded: “I’m not a math guy, I’m more of a miracle guy. So at this point I’m gonna focus on the miracle part.”

Huckabee plays to the camera like a seasoned pro. While never a suporter of his politics I might be inclinded to support him as the nosey neighbor on a sitcom or an animal voice in the next pixar movie. Perhaps we can all cross our fingers that Hollywood comes calling and Mike Huckabee and his pro-immigrant policies will jump to answer.

*sigh*

Today I officially lost all faith in the democratic process and had my heart broken by my fellow countrymen.

With the suspension of Mitt Romney’s bid for the Republican nomination I can’t help but feel the same kind of sadness that comes with any break up or death. Romney is the only candidate that I have ever felt inspired by. Mitt is the candidate that convinced me America wasn’t doomed and restored my faith in the American Dream. Governor Romney’s vision for America reminded me that all American’s should dare to dream, to preserver and to make the most of every opportunity. Governor Romney’s nostalgic view of America is the one I wished to live in.

It saddens me that as a people we instantly label an individual a “flip-flopper” for having a change of mind or opinion. If no one ever “flip-flopped’ there would still be slavery, segregation, oppression and zubaz pants. People evolve and change their thinking as it is appropriate.

What I don’t get is the new hypocrisy amongst republican voters. We can’t elect Mitt b/c he has flip-flopped on non-issues such as gay marriage and abortion but we can proudly elect Senator McCain who has supported and even co-authored numerous leftist bills, supported amnesty and has become bf with Teddy Kennedy.

I resume my regularly scheduled life saddened by today’s turn of events and hopeful Mitt will renew his bid for the whitehouse as an independent.
